Resort & Spring 17 Sneak Peek – Press Day

Earlier this month we showcased a preview of both the ela Resort 17 (coming at the end of this month ;) and Spring 17 collections with one-on-one appointments with Canadian press.

We wanted to capture a fresh and season-less feel that was anchored in our humble luxury brand philosophy. We introduced and created many new textures and finishes with leather petals, embroidery, linen and leather combinations as and developed new silhouettes like the double zip bag, box bag and lady bag (in two sizes.)

We hope you enjoy this behind the scenes sneak peek!

Women Who Inspire

Posted by Ela Kowalewska-Aldorsson

Such an honour to have been a part of this wonderful lunch hosted by The Monarch Mag, where I had the pleasure to meet a group of 12 entrepreneurs representing a variety of industries. Our lunch was graciously sponsored by Saeco and the beautiful table setting and decor was carefully crafted by Ashley Davidson

Chatting about the challenges and joys of being working mothers, sharing insights, inspiring and empowering each other were just a few things we did while sipping some delicious, foamy cappuccino. It was a real treat to learn how to practise mindfulness with simple yet highly effective techniques, led by the lovely Christine Russell. It was definitely a wonderful way to find our zen!

For Fall 2016, I took inspiration from treasured heirlooms and infused a touch of that nostalgia into the collection creating a synergy of past and present. I focused on both signature ela styles, but also new shapes and techniques inspired by the past. The assortment embodies our humble luxury philosophy, with Italian leather and canvas combinations, hand cut artisan tassels, leather covered handles and hand looped braiding. Some of my favorite new styles are the Nomad pack, which can be worn on the waist or as a clutch. Perfect for travel as it's compact and transforms into two different bags. Another two silhouettes like the Market tote and Bucket bag are our newest signatures with custom leather covered handles and a cross body strap for a hands free option. Our removable guitar strap is a perfect way to update any existing bag and I love the scale when paired with an Editor’s pouch or a Bloom bag. The palette includes rich hues of burgundy, navy and khaki.

I am pretty excited to share and treat you with our newest gift with purchase* collaboration with Bobbi Brown. A staple that is always in my personal high rotation and just in time for TIFF, this long wearing eyeliner offers precision of a liquid liner with the ease of a gel-based formula. And of course the right tools are just as important as the makeup itself so we are also including a full size ultra fine eye liner brush and an application tip card.

I hope you love it just as much as I do and it becomes a staple in your make-up kit!

*Offer available with any order of $250 or more (not including any shipping charges or applicable tax) on elabyela.com. Limit one gift per purchase. Valid through 11:59 p.m. ET on Oct 7th 2016, while supplies last; quantities are limited. Not valid on previous purchases or offline purchases.

Enroute to Portland

Portland is one of those friendly, laid-back and fairly walkable with a baby (and most definitely bikeable) cities with a good serving of hipster. With impressive food scene, micro breweries and incredible coffee. Here are some of our favourite places:

Ace Hotel - Stumptown Coffee
Their nitro cold brew coffee was definitely a new coffee experience.

Known for Portland style "farm-to-cone" handmade, small-batch, all natural ice cream made from local, sustainable and organic ingredients.
Need I say more ;) One of our favourite was Marionberry Pepper Jam with peanut butter powder. We also tried the touristy Voodoo doughnuts but Blue Star Donuts was hands down next level.

Everything on the menu is pretty incredible but our most memorable dish was the Streak Frites with a side of their special house aioli and a side of Butter Lettuce Salad. If you plan to go with kids we recommend the bar side of the restaurant as its more airy.
If you love Japanese you are in for a treat! The first certified, sustainable sushi restaurant in the world.
And if you happen to venture towards the wine country, make a stop at Bellhop in Corvallis where local farm to table makes us go back for more.
